Today is the 75th anniversary of perhaps the most emotionally moving day in the history of baseball — Lou Gehrig’s farewell speech at Yankee Stadium, two weeks after being diagnosed with ALS.
Not exactly “vintage” vinyl, as Surfer Rosa was released in 1988, but over and above that…
I just discovered that I share a birthday — today! — with not one, but TWO members of one of my favorite bands! Happy Birthday to Kim Deal (yay!) and Joey Santiago (yay!) both born on June 10th!
I had meant to post this on Read Across America Day, but was a little date-challenged in setting up the posting date.
However, seeing as how June 1st is Marilyn Monroe’s birthday (and she would have been 88 today… yikes!), I get to make a “make up” post!
Happy Birthday Marilyn!
And everyone else should follow Marilyn’s lead and get out to your favorite bookstore or local library and pick out a book!
Joan Collins turns 81 today and is hopefully celebrating by listening to more vinyl LPs!

When I’m 64?
That would be the number of the day for Stevie Wonder, born May 13th, 1950, in Saginaw Michigan.
Happy Birthday Stevie!!
