July 13, 1985: Organized by Bob Geldof, Live Aid concerts were staged at Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia to raise funds for famine relief in Africa. US pop artists also joined to form the group USA for Africa, performing the song We are the World, written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie which went on to raise $44 million dollars.
