On this day in Censorship history: The trial against Penguin Books ends with a verdict of not guilty for the publication of the full unexpurgated edition of D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover. The trial was a test of the new Obscene Publications Act of 1959.
October 17, 1960: The Drifters top the Billboard charts with Save the Last Dance for Me.
